INFO:
After sewing a family set of costumes, getting your family to model them on camera is the easy part, right? 🤣 Especially when working with two toddlers, our simple studio photo shoots (in our dining room) still take up to 90min! Here’s how we plan them: ⏰ SCHEDULE AROUND BABY Our youngest is least familiar with the camera, so we make sure to photograph him in costume post-nap and post-snack. Before then, the rest of the family gets their shots in. When he’s ready, we warm him up with a full family shot, and then he’s ready for his a solo shoot. 🧸 PREP PROPS We lay out every garment, accessory and prop ahead of time, so that we aren’t running around the house looking for them during a shoot. The props also help us remember specific shots that we had in mind too. 🎶 BLAST MUSIC When we tell our kids to smile at the camera, it’s never natural. But if we play their favorite music, they get excited and dance, and we capture their genuine reactions. 📸 TAKE PHOTOS TOO Although we prioritize the video footage, we also need that thumbnail pic for later — plus this year’s holiday card 😉 🥳 PLAN TO CELEBRATE We always plan a family activity to celebrate after the shoot. Whether it’s venturing to a new playground, exploring a bookstore, or dining at a favorite restaurant, a small event makes our photo shoot day even better - plus the kids can laugh at some of the raw photos from our phones. ::
